Navotas ammonia leak: 1 dead, 65 hospitalized

MANILA, Philippines — A 44-year-old man died whereas 65 others have been rushed to the hospital after an ice plant in Navotas sprang an ammonia leak that pressured residents to depart their houses, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) within the National Capital Region stated.

In an incident report, BFP stated 22 individuals have been rushed to Tondo Medical Center and 43 individuals have been despatched to Navotas Hospital as a result of chemical leak.

In an interview with dzBB, Navotas Mayor Toby Tiangco stated the fatality was an ice plant worker.

At 6:55 p.m.,   metropolis officers reported that the scenario is beneath management in communities, in line with Tiangco.

“Konti na lang ang amoy, maghintay na lang,” Tiangco stated over dzBB.

Tiangco urged residents to depart their houses in order that the leak alongside North Bay Boulevard may very well be contained.
