MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has declared September of yearly as the “Philippine Film Industry Month” in a bid to honor the nation’s achievements in filmmaking.
In Proclamation No. 1085 signed Feb. 4, Duterte famous that the federal government should foster preservation and enrichment of the Filipino tradition as mandated by the Constitution.
“[T]here is a need to recognize the invaluable contribution and sacrifices of all stakeholders and sectors of the film industry, as well as provide avenues to showcase and celebrate the achievements and progress of the discipline of film and filmmaking,” Duterte stated within the proclamation made public Thursday.
The President directed the Film Development Council of the Philippines to steer the observance of the Philippine Film Industry Month and establish the packages, tasks, and actions for its celebration.
Duterte additionally inspired different authorities companies, state universities and schools, native authorities models and the personal sector to advertise the packages of the Philippine Film Industry Month.
Previously, Duterte declared Sept. 12, 2019 till Sept. 11, 2020 as the “Centennial Year of Philippine Cinema.”
