MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will offer livelihood assistance to employees of the Philippine Airlines (PAL) who shall be retrenched in mid-March.
The DOLE-National Capital Region (NCR) workplace will “handle the situation,” in accordance to Rolly Francia, director of the division’s Information and Publication Service.
In a Viber message to reporters on Thursday, he mentioned the DOLE-NCR will make sure the cost of separation pay, present employment facilitation providers, and offer livelihood assistance to employees.
Further particulars on the mentioned livelihood assistance have but to be disclosed by DOLE.
Meanwhile, Francia additionally mentioned that PAL ought to notify DOLE and affected employees 30 days prior to the effectivity of the employment termination.
These measures have been finalized following a gathering between PAL officers and Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello on Wednesday.
PAL is set to cut 2,300 jobs in mid-March, citing fewer flights and prevailing journey restrictions due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
